Copy Image Area tool

Used to copy an image inside an area from the active image to the clipboard.

This tool operates on the currently selected image(s). Select an area in the view of the selected image(s) and copy it to the clipboard. The function will read sections in as many files as the area overlaps. If the pixel size is not the same in all the files, the images will be resampled to the smallest pixel size to avoid loosing information in any files.

To avoid problems caused by images with different color types, the information is kept in 24 bit in the clipboard.

The copy function is WYSIWYG, which means that transparency, contrast, brightness, gamma correction and more will be applied before the data is copied to the clipboard.

Notice that the mask must be set to (ALL) in order to copy any area.

When “Work in Image Plane” is ON, the image is copied without rotation according to the image plane. Manipulations of the copied image in 3D (move, scale and rotate) are done on the image plane. The copied region always stays on the working plane. Project the copied area on the raster in the direction of the view (Perspective allowed). Perspective model will not force a resampling.

When “Work in Image Plane” is OFF, the image is copied without rotation according to the active view. Manipulations of the copied image in 3D (move, scale and rotate) are done on the active view plane. The copied region is always on the view plane. Project the copied area on the raster in the direction of the view (Perspective allowed). Copy may require resampling with a perspective model.
